INLAND research case study at Casco (Office for Art, Design and Theory for artistic research and experiments)

In the context of the INLAND exhibition (May-June 2015) by Spanish artist Fernando García-Dory, I was one of the 7 researchers looking into the Dutch context of the INLAND issues and methods.

My focus was around the question of gender and (eco)feminism in present Dutch countryside, and practicalities.

My main resource was the book Ecofeminism 1993 by Maria Mies and Vandana Shiva both activist, writers, philosophers and ecofeminists.

And 'Geen tweede boer' 'No seconde Farmer' Gender, agricultural modernization and education for rural women in the Netherlands 1863- 1968 by Margreet van der Burg 2002 published as a doctoral thesis at the Wageningen University.

I'm currently working on 3 different video's/chapters around the notion of Ecofeminism based on the past, present and future.

This first chapter is an attempt to raise the question of ecofeminism (in dutch context, from an historical point of view) using the theory of dualism to problematize the issue. The film is an re-edit of original material from an instructional video made in 1955 by the Dutch Association of Rural woman.
